Time’s up. Of the 39 contracts signed last week at $4 million and above, the No.1 property was a townhouse owned by Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. This 25-foot house, at 20 East 10th Street, had an asking price of $19,950 million, reduced from $24,995 million when it went on the market in September 2012. The couple purchased the house for $18,995,000 in March 2011. It has 6,800 square feet including 6 bedrooms and 7 wood-burning fireplaces. The ground-floor kitchen opens to a split-level garden. The house does not have an elevator.
The No. 2 contract was PH17E at 135 East 79th Street, asking $17.75 million, reduced from $19 million when it went on the market in September 2012. The last of 30 units sold by the developer, the Brodsky Organization, this 4,476-square-foot duplex has 4 bedrooms and 5.5 baths. 135 East 79th Street was designed by William Sofield, and is one of the most outstanding new condos to rise on the Upper East Side in recent years. Modeled after prewar buildings, the façade is a handsome limestone-and-brick design with a few accents of cast iron. Amenities include a doorman, concierge, fitness center, resident’s lounge, and a landscaped courtyard.
